Three Weeks of Joy, and Middle of the Night Parties!

Well, Yesterday (Thanksgiving) marks the three week birthday of our little Gage. We are still getting use to all the fun that comes with a newborn, The dirty diapers, the sleepless nights, non-stop bottle warming/washing and last but not least- the random acts of uncovered peeing!! But with all of this work comes the countless cute pictures, the snuggling, the coo-ing, mom and I singing him VeggieTales in the middle of the night, the funny faces, the unconditional and non-stop love, little gas-bubble smiles with the occasional huge grin when he is baby talked to, the excited aunts, uncles, cousins, friend, grandmas, grandpas.... and two parents that could not be more
proud!

We find ourselves being forcefully woke up in the middle of the night, realizing that this precious little baby is so dependent on us. Before we know it, we have fed him, burped him and now are both wide awake and singing along to his VeggieTales CD as I act out the Hokey-Pokey with his Stuffed animal,Grover. When we finish the CD we both just stare into his eyes and watch him for huge periods of time. I then realize that I have been up for two hours, and have to force myself to go back to sleep, so I can get up for work in the morning. Needless to say I have more frequently been a few minutes late for work, or leave a few minutes early or hurry home for lunch so I can see him and Jackie (I love living a mile from work.)

We went to his 2-week appointment this last Monday, He is hitting all of his milestones and is in the upper-average percentile for size and weight. He has gained 1-lb and 5-oz since birth and is growing too fast for his mom and I. I now know why parents tell their kids to stop growing up. We also took him to the mall for a few newborn pictures, where we got a great one of him smiling.

Butters our cat is a little less butt-hurt about the baby now. He still does not stay very close, but will come around for the occasional sniff and does his best to stay far away when the baby cries.
Gage is still such a content and happy little boy. He rarely cries and when he does, it sure does not last very long. Jackie and I could not ask for a better baby.

HOPE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT THANKSGIVING!!

Our Baby is Finally Here!!!

After almost 30 hours of labor, Our perfect little angle was born. Although his due date was October 26th, Gage arrived on Thursday November 1st, at 2:05 pm. At birth he was 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 20 inches long. Because Jackie labored throught the entire day before, we thought for sure he would be born on Halloween. After he was assesed, he met his mom, grandpa and grandma Terry, and his aunts Sabrina and Missy. I then took Gage and followed the nurse down the elevator to the Mother-Baby floor where Jackie works. All of her friends and co-workers had been anxiously tracking her progress on the Labor/Delivery board. As we walked into the nursery for his secondary assesment and Bath, we were swarmed by what seemed like 300 excited nurses, all wanting to see him.

As I sat there next to the assesment table, I looked at his tiny hand wrapped around my index finger. At this point I realized just how lucky I was to have a beautiful baby that was born full term and healthy. While mom was getting fixed up, Our very helpful nurse checked him out and gave him his first bath, as a proud Grandma,Grandpa, uncle Dustin and aunt Mckenzie watched through the nursery window.

After we were all set up in our room, friends, reletives and Jackie's co-workers lined up to come see and hold him. All of the staff on the Mother/Baby floor were very good to us and took exellent care of Gage.

Since we thought he was going to be born on or before Halloween we picked out this cute costume for him to wear. We were lucky enough to get this picture as he held the pitch-fork.

On Saturday we we took our little devil home. Butters (our cat) was not quite sure what to think of him. For the first few days he stayed away and slept a lot. Now he is use to Gage, he just stays his distance and watches.

Right from the get go, Gage has been a very content and wide-eyed little angle. He hardley fusses and loves when people baby talk to him. Today we put him in our bed with us at 7 o'clock and all three of us slept in till almost 11. His aunt Missy and cousin Mackenzie Came down to see him and helped us give him his first bath. He seemed to handle his bath quite well. We have used this whole Saturday to lounge around and just enjoy him being with us. We could not have asked for a better more cute little boy. Dad cant wait till he is big enough to start playing, fishing and camping with. It gives me a good excuse to buy fun toys again.
